Indus motor holds 2013 suppliers convention

KARACHI, Sep 13 (NNI): “The improvement made by local suppliers in Pakistan over the last few years is appreciable and they should further enhance the quality of locally manufactured parts and lower costs to achieve entry in the regional marketâ€.
This was stated by S. Nishihara, General Manager, Purchasing, Toyota Motor Corporation during Indus Motor Company’s Annual Suppliers Convention 2013.
The convention, under the theme ‘Shaping the Future’, was attended by senior management of Toyota Motor Corporation, Daihatsu Motor Corporation, House of Habib, IMC’s suppliers, representatives from the automobile industry and the management of IMC.
Nishihira specially applauded the suppliers’ role for their continuous support in running production smoothly. He also emphasized on introducing green purchasing, which focuses on procurement of material which should be environment friendly and can be used alternatively.
On the occasion Parvez Ghias, CEO, IMC, stated “We believe that, for sustainable business growth, a healthy rapport with our vendors is essential. Without that, it would not be possible to communicate our goals, business vision, and expectationsâ€. He also mentioned that IMC is committed on activities for strengthening the supplier base, enhancing management skills, productivity and technology exchange.
The Vendor Convention is an annual feature with the aim of recognizing the efforts of the IMC vendors. Evaluating last year’s performance, AEK Industries, was recognized top performing vendor for the year 2012-13, while Load Ltd. was awarded Supplier Excellence Award. NNI
