ISLAMABAD, Oct 6 (APP): Director General Immigration and
Passports Sikandar Sultan Raja has said that a web tracking system and online complaint system will be introduced to help those seeking
passports and citizenship certificates.
Talking to APP here, the Director General said his directorate
was currently issuing about 20,000 passports daily.
The directorate has 72 regional offices across the country
from which it receives applications from citizens.
He said he was receiving about 200 emails, mostly from
Pakistanis living abroad for redressal of their problems related to
passports and citizenship certificates.
Now an applicant can get his passport in 12 days, the DG said
and added that there was a plan to start service for delivery of
passports at home.
Sikandar Sultan, who assumed charge of office two
months ago, is determined to purge agent mafia, which takes bribes
from hapless citizens who come to regional passport offices from
small towns and villages.
The Director General said that he himself sat at the
facilitation desk set up at the directorate in Islamabad for two
hours to listen to the complaints of passport seekers and get
feedback from his officers working at regional offices.
He said he had also been conducting surprise checks of regional
offices and randomly called applicants to know whether they
were satisfied with the services provided to them.
The directorate has successfully cleared the entire backlog of
unprinted passports and citizenship certificates, he added.
The Director General said he was receiving daily reports from
the regional offices to assess quality of services.
As per directives of the Interior Minister, no official
passports would be issued to persons, who are not entitled, he added.
Now any one can track status of passport by sending 11
digit token on 9988 and can also use the helpline 080034477, he added.
