ISLAMABAD, Oct 6 (APP): NADRA will provide free of charge
duplicate computerized national identity cards to the victims of earthquake in Awaran, district in Balochistan.
The provision of identity cards will help rehabilitate lives of
earthquake affected people.
According to official sources, NADRA office in tehsil Mashkay was
destroyed completely due to earthquake and office in Awaran was seriously
damaged.
However, the district office in Awaran was working again as NADRA
employees came back to work despite the fact that they were passing through
difficult times as they had lost their homes in the earthquake.
Chairman NADRA Tariq Malik on the special directives of Minister
for Interior and Narcotics Control Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, he visited the
quake-hit region in order to assess the operational activities being carried out by NADRA in Awaran district.
NADRA's registration centers in the vicinity have been directed to
make special arrangements for providing national identity cards (CNICs) on
war-footing to expand and reinforce federal and provincial governments'
relief activities in a transparent and efficient manner.
The quake-hit affected citizens don't need to bring any
document for new ID cards. They just need to approach NADRA Registration
Center in Awaran or on spot NADRA Mobile Registration Vans and
man-pack units to apply for CNICs.
NADRA will gather biometrics (digital fingerprints and snapshot) of
citizens, their father/mother name and address for the identification of CNIC number and accordingly, will trace their CNICs in the database. No one will be able to apply for a reprint of someone else's card.
NADRA's software engineers have developed the software which will
capture name, father's name, date of birth, address and biometric
information of the affected people and will locate lost CNIC.
Mobile Registration Vans (MRVs) fitted with state-of-art computer
and communication equipment are being deployed along with manpack units.
"We are pulling our resources from areas which were lucky to have
been saved from this havoc and deploy these extra resources in Awaran," said
the Chairman.
The Chairman has directed DG Balochistan Brig Lodhi to remain
in District Awaran during relief operation.
NADRA local teams will work with Pakistan Army and NDMA to do
damage assessment survey in rehabilitation services.
