QUETT A Oct 8 (PPI): Four hundred peole have been killed and more than 35 thousand houses have been completely destroyed in earthquake that hit Awaran and Mashkay. International organisations should come forward for reconstruction. Militants should extend cooperation to us for the assistance of affectees by observing ceasefire.
This was stated by Muhammad Tahir Bizenjo Secretary General National party at a Press conference here Tuesday.
He was flanked by Central Secretary Labour MPA Rehmat Ali Baloch, Dr Ishaq Baloch and others.
Tahir Bizenjo said devastating earthquake of September 24 badly affected Districts Awaran and Kech (Turbat). He said had National Disaster Management Authority and Provincial Disaster Management Authority extended help to the peole in time perhaps there might not be so enormous losses.
He demanded of federal and provincial governments to stabilize and strengthen institutions extending assistance during national calamities may it be within five minutes or a year later. We have to evolve a policy in this connection.
He said provincial government within its available resources extended help to affectees. National party established camps in 15 districts of Balochistan and in Karachi and collected cash and goods for affectees.
He said majority f injured in earthquake was shifted to Karachi. He said he as Secretary General of national Party enquired about health of each injured person and distributed Rupees 10 thousand per head.
He said according to our survey more than 35 thousand houses have been completely destroyed while over 400 people were killed. Their help and building houses is perhaps not possible by us. We therefore appealed to international organizations to come forward and help for rebuilding in Awaran and Mashkay.
We also appeal to militants to observe ceasefire and cooperate with us in this task, he added.
He asked government not to stop agencies coming form outside and let them work.
