Strict action taken against 413 traffic wardens on violation of rules

RAWALPINDI, Sept 15 (APP): Chief Traffic Officer
(CTO) Rawalpindi Syed Ishtiaq Hussain Shah, has taken strict action
against 413 traffic wardens for violation of rules and regulations.
He said several traffic wardens were dismissed and censured
for violation of rules and regulations. Five wardens who were absent from their duty have been dismissed from their service.
Service of 11 wardens have been forfeited on charges of negligence
to perform their duties, 195 wardens were imposed fines for violation of other rules and regulations. 81 traffic wardens were censured as they were found absent from their duty points while 100 bad-tempered wardens were directed to perform duties without salaries, he added.
Similarly, 21 junior traffic wardens have also been awarded
punishments on several charges during current year, he informed.
Syed Ishtiaq Hussain Shah said the punishment awarded to these
traffic wardens will be entered in the record, which will affect their future promotion.
Ishtiaq Hussain Shah added that misbehaviour with the citizens and violation of rules will not be tolerated at any cost and the violators
will be punished as per law.
He said prizes are also distributed among those traffic police officers who performed their duties honestly.
He strictly directed the wardens to ensure their timely attendance
on duties and warned that violators will be fined besides the
departmental action.
All the traffic wardens of city traffic police have been directed
to remain polite and honest during duty hours and rude attitude with
the citizens, even with the traffic rules violators will not be
tolerated.
Impoliteness will not be tolerated and bad-tempered wardens will
be fined for being rude to the citizens or drivers, he added.
The traffic wardens should deal with all the citizens even a
traffic rules violators politely. Traffic police officers would not be allowed to use mobile phones on roads during their duty hours.
Strict action will also be taken against the traffic wardens who
will be seen gossiping with each other and attending cell phones at
their duty points and even found absent from duty.
On the complaint of corruption, strict disciplinary action would
be taken and they would be dismissed.
He further said the traffic wardens should perform their duties
with more dedication and commitment so that the image of the force
could be improved further.
