COAS visits MCJ, inaugurated academic block

RAWALPINDI, Nov 19 (Online): Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani inaugurated the new Academic Block at Military College Jhelum (MCJ) on Tuesday.

According to reports, this academic block is part of a master plan which besides renovation of two cadet houses and the auditorium includes construction of a swimming pool, mosque, riding club, firing range, sports grounds, roads and commandant house and this project will be completed in 2015.

During his speech, the COAS said that provision of best infrastructure to education institutions in the country is vital for grooming of the youth.

Ashfaq Pervez Kayani further emphasized that overall environment in these institutions has to be in harmony with the modern day requirements to make future generations capable of handling and leading the phenomenon of ‘Change’.

While praising the achievements of MCJ, he mentioned that in its 88 years history, MCJ has done a commendable job as a feeder institution for the army.

Earlier on his arrival, Chief of the Army Staff was received in the college by Lieutenant General Raheel Sharif, Inspector General Training & Evaluation, Lieutenant General Sajjad Ghani, Quarter master General and Lieutenant General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Commander 10 Corps.

A large number of senior military officers, members of college alumni and college faculty were present on the occasion.
