Flour prices raised in Lahore despite court’s recent order

Lahore, Nov. 19 (Online): Hours after releasing of Lahore High Court’s Rawalpindi bench order for restoration of “Sasti Roti Scheme” the flour prices have been raised by the authorities up to Rs10 per bag.

Troublesome moments started for the low-income locals when government administered utility stores made significant hike in flour prices on Tuesday.

Happiness of the citizens celebrating the court’s orders were immediately shattered by the governmental move as the flour sack of 20 kilograms is now available on Rs785, which definitely will increase prices in retailers markets afterwards.

Lahore High Court (LHC), Rawalpindi bench had earlier ordered the Punjab government to restore ‘Sasti Roti Scheme’, low-cost bread provision scheme, for facilitating the low-income locals.

Justice Masood headed one-member bench concluded the hearing on petition filed by a local regarding re-instating of the scheme announced by the Punjab government.
