Five killed in Quetta blast; President, PM condemn

QUETTA, Nov 21 (INP): At least five persons including two cops were killed and 24 others injured in separate bomb blasts in Quetta and Chaman in Balochistan on Thursday.

According to the rescue sources, the first blast took place near Frontier Corps (FC) vehicle in Satellite Town area of Quetta.

The FC vehicle was destroyed in the explosion resulting in death of five persons including two cops and leaving 20 others injured.

Security sources said that it was high intensity blast which also adversely damaged the nearby buildings.

Sources said that gun shots were also heard after the blast.

Emergency and security teams reached the site of the incident and started rescue operation.

The victims, which included FC personnel, were shifted to Civil Hospital Quetta where an emergency was declared.

Security personnel cordoned off the area as a probe into the incident went underway.
Earlier at least three synchronised explosions took place in Quetta on Wednesday during which two people were killed and six others were injured.

Meanwhile an explosion near Christian colony in Balochistan's Pak-Afghan border town of Chaman injured four persons. Several cars were damaged in the explosion.

The victims were shifted to the Civil Hospital in the city for medical treatment.

President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif have strongly condemned the Quetta bomb explosion targeting the FC vehicle in Satellite Town area. The blast resulted into the loss of life and property.

They also condemned the Chaman blast which resulted into injuries to several people.

While sympathizing with the families of the victims, the President and Prime Minister prayed to Almighty Allah for resting the departed souls in eternal peace and granting courage to the bereaved to bear their loss with fortitude.
