Students Council oath taking ceremony, annual exhibition held at local girls college

RAWALPINDI, Nov 20 (INP): The oath taking ceremony of the newly elected students council and annual exhibition 2013 of F.G. Post Graduate college for Women, Kashmir Road, Rawalpindi were held on Wednesday.

Brig. Khush Muhammad Khan, Director FGEI C/G was the chief guest on the occasion, who took oath from the newly elected council members and presidents of various societies and distributed badges among them. The newly elected council members included Aroosa Mushtaq Malik (president), Alizaye Javed Durrani (vice president), Areesha Latif (general secretary), Arooj Adil (general secretary), Aroona Nishaal Sohail (joint secretary) and Komal Iftekhar (joint secretary).

The former president student council Afifa Yousaf Qureshi handed her charge over to the newly elected president, who expressed her feelings of gratitude to the principal, teachers and students for showing confidence in her.

On the occasion, the annual exhibition was also held in collaboration with the departments of fine arts, home economics, botany, zoology, chemistry, physics and computer sciences. The exhibition started at fine arts department where yearly projects of the students made a brave show. The students’ projects included tiles, textile, cards, posters, abstract paintings, landscape, pottery paintings, fabric design and still life. Another event of exhibition was also held in Home Economics department.

The chief guest in his address said that the role of education is vital in every civilized society. “Education is not simply acquisition of facts and formulas but it is the enlightenment of the mind, development of the intellect, grooming of personality, and strengthening of the character,” he said.

At the end of the events, the chief guest was presented college insignia by the principal.
