JEDDAH, Nov 20 (INP): Pakistan’s Ambassador in Saudi Arabia Muhammad Naeem Khan has removed the principal of Pakistan International School, Jeddah English Section, Sehar Kamran, who is a Senator of the PPP, over gross financial mismanagement, indiscipline and violating the orders of the Saudi Education Ministry.
Director Admin Pakistan International School Imran Raza Malik has been appointed principal in place of Sehar Kamran. The ambassador removed the principal over the allegations of embezzlement of millions of rupees, favouritism and inappropriate use of powers. Ambassador Muhammad Naeem Khan has also ordered probe against Sehar Kamran.
However, Sehar Kamran has refused to accept the orders of the Pakistani ambassador and occupied the principal office.
There were complaints of financial management against Sehar Kamran, who became the PPP Senator despite being a government servant due to being close with Faryal Talpur. During the visit of the prime minister to Saudi Arabia, the Pakistanis residing there brought the matter into his notice by lodging complaints and demanding her removal. Taking notice of these complaints, Ambassador Muhammad Naeem Khan removed Sehar Kamran from the post of principal of English Section of Pakistan International School, Jeddah.
Sehar Kamran had allegedly kept the fees amounting to lakhs of Saudi Riyals with herself instead of submitting them into bank. She also did not renew the school’s licence despite repeated reminders from the Saudi Education Ministry. She also refused to set up a parents’ committee which was required under the Saudi Education Ministry rules and run the affairs of the school herself. During the PPP’s tenure, the Pakistan embassy staff was powerless against Sehar Kamran and could not do anything against her.
The Pakistani ambassador also held a meeting with the Saudi education minister over the issue during when the Saudi minister put several issues over the matter. According to sources, the Pakistani envoy informed the government about the whole issue and under instructions from Islamabad decided to show the door to Sehar Kamran. The Pakistani envoy has also informed the officials of Saudi education minister about the decision.
However, Sehar Kamran has refused to accept these orders, arguing that the envoy has not power to remove her. The students of the school and parents, as well as the Pakistani community has welcomed the decision of the Pakistani envoy.
It merits mentioning here that a reference has also been filed in the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to disqualify Sehar Kamran. The Pakistan embassy staff has informed the ECP about all information about Sehar Kamran in response of its letter.
