MULTAN, December 14 (Online): Former information minister Qamar Zaman Kaira has said PPP is not engaged in “Noora Kushti†with government but is pursuing policy of reconciliation so that federation stabilizes and remains secure.
He said this while addressing a press conference here at the residence of former senator Malik Salah ud Din Dogar Saturday.
To a question he said that country has fallen victim to terrorism and the incumbent government is not holding dialogue with Taliban despite having been mandated by all political parties. By not holding talks with the Taliban government is strengthening forces opposed to it , he added.
He alleged that government had become hostage in the hands of Taliban. Imran Khan was also standing with the forces which are lending support to status quo.
“Our stance is very clear on drone strikes and US is imperialistic rogue. The government should adopt a clear stand point on terrorism and tell the people what it wantsâ€, he remarked.
Interference of anti Pakistan forces and India has increased in the wake of the sit ins being staged by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), he claimed .
Regarding Yusuf Raza Gilani he said that stance taken by former Prime Minister (PM) for not appearing before the court is correct. PPP is with him and what decisions have been taken by him are correct. If some one has committed corruption, former PM is not responsible for it. Gilani should not appear before NAB, he added.
The act of delimitations of constituencies in Punjab in connection with Local Bodies (LB) polls is pre polls rigging, he said. Election Commission should discharge its obligations and not allow the credibility of LB polls to be affected , he stressed.
“We will bring to public ill conceived decisions of the government but will not allow government to be destabilizedâ€, he announced.
Pervez Musharraf trial should be conducted at every cost , he said adding it is a right step to end dictatorship. But government is saying it is not conducting trial but is complying with the court’s orders, he remarked.
Responding to a question he said governments can deliver to people through the constitution. Not only we but PTI have also their reservations with reference to general elections, he said adding the process for verification of thump impressions was to be started in Lahore after Karachi and Kasur but chairman NADRA was removed in the darkness of night.
Interior minister has also admitted that there are irregularities ranging between 70 to 80 percent in voters lists in every constituency.
He alleged the ruling party had not delivered its pledges it had made to people before elections and their claims have been exposed within a period of six months. People have gone disappointed, he added. Power crisis is continuing in the country despite payment of circular debt amounting to Rs 500 billion, he regretted.
