ISLAMABAD, 10 Jan (Online): PTI Information Secretary, Shireen Mazari, today expressed her party’s concern, regarding resignation of the NADRA Chairman.
She said this comes in the wake of earlier resignations by judges of election tribunals looking into electoral fraud in the cases of PTI Chairman and PTI leader Hamid Khan; adding to the prevailing suspicions that the PMLN government was fearful of allowing thumb print verifications especially in four constituencies demanded by PTI as test cases.
Mazari said the government's exorbitant pressure not only on the NADRA Chairman but also his family has been a major factor in compelling him to resign, citing an earlier meeting with the Vice Chairman PTI and Information Secretary, NADRA Chairman had informed that his family was being harassed as a means of pressuring him not to undertake thumb print verifications in a Lahore constituency as ordered by an election tribunal.
The PTI Information Secretary said that PTI feared the federal government would continue to use covert means to prevent verification in the four constituencies identified by PTI.
She also expressed PTI’s resolve of never allowing and accepting a non-credible and biased appointee to head NADRA and undermine the verification procedure which is an essential part of legally exposing electoral fraud.
