ISLAMABAD, Jan 12 (Online): PML-N leader and social activist Jahangir Akhtar has said that early completion of developmental projects to boost Govt’s popularity adding he said PPP afraid of rising popularity of PML-N.

Talking to a delegation of notables from Kallar Syedan and Kahuta on Sunday, Jahangir Akhtar said that former Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf initiated developmental projects worth billions during his last days to ensure victory in the general elections.

The PML-N leader said that people are pinning high hopes in the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to resolve their problems.

He lauded the government for appointing Federal Minister for Planning Development and Reforms Ahsan Iqbal to head a six-member parliamentary committee to review and recommend action on the stalled developmental projects of the former regime.

However, rules were violated therefore the Supreme Court stopped the projects and directed that competent authority should decide the fate of projects.

The committee would take a decision in two weeks and submit recommendations to the PM who would take the final decision, he said.

Jahangir Akhtar said that early completion of some of the projects would provide relief to masses and add to the popularity of the PML-N led government.

He said that now the former PM Raja Pervaiz Ashraf is not a member of parliament and he has no political power therefore he should refrain from misguiding masses by claiming to get the developmental projects completed.

PPP which gave nothing to the people except for load shedding, inflation and joblessness during the past five years seems to be afraid of the rising popularity of PML-N which has emerged as popular party at both national and provincial level, he remarked.

PML-N is committed for the welfare of people and it has vision to steer country on the way of progress and prosperity.
