Pak SKI team wins gold medal in Dream Programme -2014

ISLAMABAD, Jan 27 (Online): After a thrilling finish, Pakistan ski contingent, Monday, clinched two top positions by winning Gold and Bronze medals in ‘Dream Programme -2014’ held in Gangwon Province, the Republic of Korea.
Pakistani Ski team comprised comprising Master Zia ur Rehman and Master Imtiaz Alam of Naltar Ski School.
Air Marshal Athar Hussain Bukhari, who is also the President Ski Federation of Pakistan, congratulated the athletes, who called on him in his office today. He lauded their achievements for winning Gold as well as Bronze Medals and hoped that their superb performance would significantly boost the SFP’s ventures in National and International ski events.
He also acknowledged the contributions and efforts of Embassy of Korea in Pakistan, for extending its full support and co-operation in materializing these ski training sessions in Korea.
‘Dream Programme’ was commenced by Gangwon Province, Korea, the host of Pyeong Chang 2018 Winter Olympics. The purpose of the Programme is to fulfil the promise with International Sports World to expand the base of winter sports. Since 2004, the Province is inviting young people from countries, where winter sports facilities are not fully developed.
Pakistan, however, joined the Programme in 2011. This year about 163 young skiers from 39 countries, participated in the training. The Programme endeavours to provide systematic and specialized training of winter sports at ‘Winter Sports Academy,’ where Korean Olympic medallists and national team level athletes train the promising young athletes.
It is worth mentioning here that Pakistani Skiers won Gold and silver Medals in Dream Program 2013 as well.
