Pakistan seeks Saudi, Kazakh support for candidacy of IPU

GENEVA, March 18 (Online): Pakistan has sought Saudi Arabian and Kazakhstan support for the Candidacy of Secretary Generalship of Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).
Speaker, National Assembly of Pakistan, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq met with Dr. Abdullah Bin Mohammed Bin Ibrahim Al-Sheikh, Speaker of Majlis Ash-Shura Council of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Nurlan Z. Nigmatulin, Chairman of the Mazhilis, House of Representatives of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the sidelines of the 130th IPU General Assembly meeting in Geneva, says a press statement.
During these meetings, a number of issues of common interest between the brotherly countries and ways of strengthening relations were discussed in cordial atmosphere.
Talking to the Saudi counterpart, the Speaker said that Saudi Arabia is the sincere friend of Pakistan and the whole nation greatly values Saudi support during natural calamities and crisis in Pakistan. The Speaker expressed his desire to further intensify cooperation between the two Legislatures During the meeting, the two sides discussed cooperation prospects for the two countries and ways to develop and support them in all areas. They also discussed latest developments on regional and international levels.
Later, talking to the Chairman of the Kazakh Mazhilis Nurlan Z. Nigmatulin, the Speaker underlined the need for diversifying cooperation between Pakistan and Kazakhstan for mutual benefits of both the nations. The Speaker emphasized the need for enhancing cooperation and interaction between the parliaments and parliamentarians of both the countries for exchange of views and experiences. He also invited Kazakh leadership to suggest avenues of possible cooperation and assured Parliament’s complete facilitation in this regard.
Chairman Nurlan Z. Nigmatulin thanked Pakistan for its support to the Kazakhstan’s candidacy for the United Nations Security Council non-permanent seat for 2017-18. He praised Pakistan’s role in the region and noted that both sides had contributed through forums like the Shanghai Dialogue, CIS, OIC and ECO. He said that the geopolitical situation of Pakistan allows it to be an important trade an economic partner of Kazakhstan.
On this occasion, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq also sought Saudi and Kazakh support for the Pakistan’s Candidate for Secretary Generalship of IPU, Shazia Rafi. Both the counterparts assured their full support and cooperation in election of Secretary General of IPU.
