Tolerance needed for implementation of rights of minorities

QUETTA may 4 (PPI): Implementation of rights of minorities given in the Constitution of Pakistan there is need to promote tolerance in the society. There is also need to remove differences in the Constitution against minorities and removing literature promoting hatred against them from curriculum. All religious call for welfare of humanity and brotherhood.
These views were expressed by political, social and minority representatives at a seminar on “Problems of minorities and solution†organized by National Commission for Justice here the other day.
MPA PMAP William Barkat said that present government was working to give rights to all nations irrespective of their religion, sect or nationality as ensured by the constitution and providing basic facilities on equality. Coalition government headed by Dr Malik Baloch has started practical measures for elimination lawlessness and promotion of brotherhood in the province. He had announced after passage of education in mother tongue that curriculum creating hurdle in brotherhood would be changed. Implementation of this announced was being made. He said Hindu community had migrated from Baloch areas but after coming into power of present government this has stopped.
Constitution of Pakistan has given right to all citizens to contest elections on every seat irrespective of their religion. Pakistan was made by a lawyer politician. According to his thinking Pakistan should have been a welfare state but unfortunately rulers particularly dictators did not follow this formula and they laid foundation to make this country security state and adopted running government through by guns instead of welfare of masses. This attitude of dictators gave birth to tradition of usurping rights of weak in the country.
He said religious parties in league with dictators attacked democracy particularly rights of people. Creator of Pakistan’s Constitution late Zulfiqar Bhutto under the pressure of religious parties named Country as Islamic Democratic Pakistan and announced Friday as weekly off instead of Sunday. Our history is very bitter. Taking lesson from it we have to promote religious harmony and tolerance in the province.
Programme Coordinator National Commissions Kashif Aslam and provincial Coordinator Saleem Francis as well as Former Provincial Minister Jaffar George, told that it was continuing journey along with civil society to create awareness since 1985 for protecting rights of minorities. Our educational curriculum was spoiling rights of minorities. Message of hatred among the books should be removed and all strata of society have to exert pressure on government.
At the end participants put forth their suggestions and asked for holding more such seminars for resolving the issues.
