Electricity shortfall further increases to 4,500MW

LAHORE May 08 (Online): The electricity shortfall in Pakistan has further increased to 4,500MW, resulting in an increase in the duration of power outages in cities and villages across the country.
The duration of electricity load shedding in cities has reached up to 10 hours a day, while villages face up to 14 hours of power outage daily.
According to NTDC official, power generation now stands at 10,700MW against the demand of 15,200MW.
3,400MW electricity is being produced by hydro power plants, 1,220MW by thermal units and 6,080MW of electricity by Independent Power Producers (IPPs).
