Illegal, armed occupants living in PU hostels: VC

LAHORE Sept 17 (Online): The Vice Chancellor of Punjab University Dr Mujahid Khan has revealed to that there are armed and illegal occupants residing in the hostels of the varsity.

Dr Mujahid Khan said that these illegal occupants also have an extortion list and were heavily armed. “One room was raided in the hostel and only one arrest was made. Mobile phones, list of Islami Jamiat Talba members, jihadi literature, NATO jacket, clothes and plastic gloves were recovered.”

Earlier, three suspects believed to be affiliated with the terrorists network Al-Qaeda were arrested from the Punjab University and Township area. According to sources, raids were conducted by intelligence agencies in the residential colony and a suspect was taken into custody. Agencies had received information that the suspect identified as Shehzad was a bomb making expert working for Al-Qaeda.

A retired doctor was also arrested from the Township area while his son was detained few days earlier. Law enforcement agencies claim that the father and son were involved in fund raising and logistic support for the Taliban.
