Balochistan fiber optic project near completion

ISLAMABAD, Sept 17 (APP): The Senate'd Standing Committee on Finance was informed Tuesday that the fiber optic project in Balochistan was at final stage of completion, which would connect the province with the
modern communications network.
The committee, which met here with Senator Muhammad Yousuf Badani in the chair, was apprised about the details of funds released for the less developed areas under the 7th National Finance Commission Award (NFC).
The meeting was informed that about 8,800 villages of South Punjab were provided modern facilities of communication where from Multan Broad Band and PTCL, 206 schools were provided internet labs facility.
It was also told that permission of Ministry of Defence was essential for laying communication network in the bordering areas of South Punjab.
It was further informed that every federal government had
released billion of rupees for development projects for the less developed areas and the last government had given a special package of Rs 23 billion for Balochistan.
Work on special development projects in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and
Balochistan were under progress to remove poverty from these areas and all the three provinces were provided funds from their own shares under the
NFC award.
The committee's chairman said that it was the duty of the state to provide basic facilities to all citizens and directed for taking more steps to further improve the same.
He said that each government had released billion of rupees for the
development and progress of Balochistan, but those funds were not utilized
properly.
The members of the committee suggested to revise funds for the development and progress of the province and recommended to take action against those, who were allegedly involved in corruption in the ongoing development projects in Balochistan
The committee also recommended to take stern action against the politicians and bureaucrats involved in corruption and recovering the looted national money.
The meeting was attended among others by senators Ahmed Hassan, Rozi Khan Kakar, Khalida Perveen and Muhammad Ali Rind and senior government officials.
