62 member Pakistani contingent participates in CGames march past

ISLAMABAD, Jul 25 (APP): The 62-member Pakistani contingent, dressed
up in traditional shalwar qamiz participated in the march past at the opening ceremony of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games on July, 23.
Renowned Pakistani wrestler and gold medallist of the Commonwealth
Games 2010 Delhi Azhar Hussain led the contingent by carrying Pakistani flag.
Federal Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination, Riaz Hussain
Pirzada attended the ceremony as the Chef de Mission of Pakistani contingent.
From Pakistan, 44 female and male athletes will be competing in various
sports like wrestling, boxing, shooting, judo, swimming, weightlifting, table tennis, badminton and lawn bowls.
The Opening Ceremony got the Games off to a sensational start and was
an amazing showcase for the city. Hundreds of athletes from 71 countries of the Commonwealth are participating in the games.
The ceremony was watched by a stadium audience of 40,000 and television
viewers of an estimated 1 billion in 71 Commonwealth nations and territories.
The games will end on August, 3.
