World Bank?s GS Programme strives hard to strengthen govt

QUETTA Sep 23 (PPI): Senior Governance Specialist World Bank Sher Shah Khan has said that Governance Support Program (GSP) is a supporting unit which gives support to the governmental institutions in order to strengthen them.
While talking to Ahmed Farooq Bazai Vice-Chancellor Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences here he said that the GSP was striving to build linkages between government and educational institutions for the purpose to boost up the skills of youth and utilize their energies properly in the development and prosperity of the country.
He outlined that in foreign countries the government assigns different tasks to Educational Institutions wherein the concerned educational institutions hand over the same task to its students in order to find pragmatic solution of the issues. He added that the same methodology should be adopted in their educational institutions so that they could counter to-date problems.
Sher Shah Khan also appreciated the role of BUITEMS in introducing Performance Management Cell, its software and termed it a great initiative.
Vice Chancellor said on the occasion they were taking benefits from the expertise of 45 PhDs s who recently completed their PhDs from different part of the world, adding ahead that they had established a forensic lab where DNA test facilities were available.
Business and communication department was also performing par excellence which will help students get employment in private sector as well as they could start their own business and it would lessen the burden on public sector he went on to say.
Farooq Bazai added that the resource center had been established aiming that to facilitate in trainings.
Sher Shah Khan said number of projects had been launched but many of these projects did not fulfill the desired end; therefore, government had to take practical steps in order to make this project workable and ensure sustainability.
