Pervez Musharraf attack case: Accused Rana Faqir Hussain acquitted

RAWALPINDI, Sept 18 (Online): Special Anti Terrorism Court has acquitted accused Rana Faqir Hussain in Pervez Musharraf attack case on the grounds of insufficient evidence against the accused.
Rana Faqir Hussain was arrested on Dec 8 2005. He was taken into custody along with his 13 family members including a 6 month old baby.
He was accused of being part of a suicide bombing which tool place on Dec 25 2003 aimed at former president Pervez Musharraf at Jhanda Chichi. 22 people including 4 policeman were killed in the attack. He was also accused of parking his vehicle laden with explosives at a petrol pump in front of Civil Line police station.
Counsel of Faqir Hussain Col (retd) Inam Al Rahim advocate had prayed before the court that his client be acquitted as despite passage of 7 years the prosecution has failed to present any solid evidence against his client and neither any charges have been proven
in the court.
ATC court Judge Ch Habib ur Rehman acquitted Rana Faqir Hussain of all charges and ordered his immediate release.
