Momand Agency's students visits AIOU

ISLAMABAD, Sep 18 (APP): A delegation of Government Degree College
YakGhunda, Momand Agency visited the Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU)
as part of study tour here on Wednesday.
The university's director students affairs Mian Aslam briefed the students regarding different faculty and admission criteria of the university besides its performance, saying its students were contributing valuable services in private and public sector.
He said the university founded in 1974, was one of the world's largest universities by enrollment, with 1,121,038 students in the year 2010 whereas Course Enrollment of these students are 3,305,948.
He said women enrollment was 57 percent, reflecting how well the university was playing its part in promoting female literacy rate in the country.
He informed the university offered over 1300 courses with 42 regional centers and 50,000 registered tutors, across the country.
Replying to a question he said the university had planed to establish 100,000 open schools for less educated persons, throughout the country in order to promote quality education for achieving national development and prosperity.
During the trip, the delegation will also visit other educational and cultural centers besides recreational places of the federal capital.
