Polio immunization drive in majority districts from Monday

QUETTA: The polio immunization campaign is scheduled to be launched in majority districts of Balochistan province including Quetta from January 19, 2015.
The source of the Health department said that while the vital campaign is being launched in some 26 districts of the province, it has been postponed for time being in four districts including Loralai, Killa Saifullah, Zhob and Shirani.
The sources of the department informed that the campaign in these four districts would be launched after a week time.
In the forthcoming campaign, it is targeted to vaccinate around 2 million children below five years of age for necessary arrangements have almost been finalized.
The mobile teams are being formed to administer the anti-polio vaccine to the children by carrying out home-to-home visits in every nook and corner of the province.
Moreover, the special arrangements would also be made at different transit points for immunizing the children against the crippling disease.
The polio vaccine would also be administered at the basic health units and rural health centers in the districts.
Meanwhile, respective district administrations have also started reviewing arrangements for the polio vaccination campaign in different districts.
It is being ensured to make the forthcoming polio immunization campaign a great success with full support from the respective communities.
