QUETTA Feb 3 (PPI): PPL and OGDC have to mend their attitudes towards Balochistan. PPL should play its positive role in the development of social sector besides providing employment to the people to build their confidence.
These views were expressed by Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch while chairing a meeting about installation of LPG plants in all the districts here Tuesday.
Minister of State for Petroleum and natural resources Jam Kamal, Balochistan Chief Secretary Saifullah Chatha, Secretary Home Akbar Hussain Durrani and SSGC officials also attended the meeting.
SSGC official in a briefing told that Sui gas was provided to 14 districts of Balochistan while other districts would be provided gas through LPG. To overcome low gas pressure in Kalat and Mastung 8 inch dia pipeline is being replaced by 16 inch line.
Meeting was also briefed in detail about security of gas pipelines, low pressure, supply of LPG to others districts and tender of PM gas supply plan to Awaran, laying more pipelines in Gwadar and other matters.
Addressing the meeting Chief Minister said that no project can be successful without taking people of the province in confidence and without their participation. He said PPL and OGDC did not take sufficient measures to end unemployment and to change economic conditions of the people. It increased sense of deprivation. He asked OGDC to prepare planes for the welfare of the people. Companies cannot be put the province on road to progress without restoring confidence of people, provision of employment and making them participants in the projects. Sui played key role in the development of the country and Balochistan. But people of this area (Sui) were still deprived of gas, electricity, drinking water, health and education facilities even today. He said people of the area should be given jobs in Zaghroon Gas field on priority basis.
Expressing anger over non provision of gas to residents of old Gwadar he said pipeline has been laid in areas where there is no population at all and settlements have been ignored. He also expressed grave concern over data of gas bills and said companies should ensure recoveries of bills or this can also become serious issue like electricity.
He directed such districts where there is no facility of gas land for installation of lpg plants and better security of gas installations.
Addressing the meeting Minister of State Jam Kamal Khan said federal government was taken serious measures for development of Balochistan and raising standard of living of its people. No compromise would be made on providing employment to the local people in the province. He assured the Chief Minister that locals would be given employment in Zarghoon Gas field about security responsibility and steps would also be taken for early supply of gas to the old population of Gwadar.
He said federal government would be recommended for forming a forum at provincial level for better coordination between Government of Balochistan, PPL and OGDC.
