QUETTA: Three-day training workshop for district Education Officers was concluded here in the metropolis.
Addressing closing session of the workshop, the Secretary Secondary Education, Abdul Saboor Kakar appreciated the training session for administrative officers in the Education department is essential for their capacity building as well as providing awareness about the rules and regulations of procurement of the goods in the educational institutions.
The training sessions have been arranged in view of the emerging needs in this regard so as to bring transparency in the affairs of procurement in the educational institutions, the Secretary maintained.
He also said that the powers have been devolved at the grass roots level in the education department, and so the concerned officers are being imparted necessary training now so that they are able to discharge their responsibilities well and use their authority in an appropriate manner.
The training would also help them stop wastage of the funds, he believed.
The Secretary on the occasion directed to the district Education Officers to convene meeting of the district education committees for prevention of cheating in the forthcoming examinations in their respective districts.
They should evolved strategy for prevention of cheating and other unfair means in the annual examinations, he directed further. The DEOs are ought to supervise the necessary repair and maintenance of the schools ahead of the annual examinations of Matric in their respective districts, he stressed.
The Secretary Secondary Education also directed to the DEOs to launch campaign for enrolment of around 0.6 million new children in the educational institutions in their districts.
He also directed them to pay visit of the educational institutions on regular basis and also guide the lower staff about the rules and regulations of procurement of different items.
He on the occasion mentioned that transfer and posting of the teachers from one district to the other has been banned as such strict action would be taken against the officers not abiding by the directives in this regard.
The Director of Pakistan Audit and Accounts Academy, Ziauddin Kasi and Additional Director Schools, Munir Ahmed Baloch also addressed the occasion.
