QUETTA: We have to give due status to the womenfolk so that they are able to play their proactive role in socio-economic development of the country.
This and similar views were expressed by the Secretary Women Development, Haider Ali Shikoh, the eminent social worker and Chairperson of Tanzim Idara Bahali-e-Mustehqeen (TIBM), Mrs. Surriya Allahdin, Dr. Ataur Rehman, Barkat Shah, Ms. Saima Haroon, Ms. Ayesha Wadood and others while addressing a seminar held under the auspices of Taraqee Foundation here the other day.
The speakers said that it is an unfortunate that around 86 percent girls could not acquire education even of the school level in Balochistan. So, we need to focus on the issue, rather we have to make collective efforts for education of the women, they stressed.
They said that we can achieve the goal of progress only by giving the women their due status in the society. We also have to educate our women and provide a conducive environment to survive in the society, they stressed further.
It is equally important to bring the womenfolk, who are above the half of the country’s population, in the national mainstream, the speakers said. We also have to change our behavior towards the women.
The speakers also highlighted the issues of the women in the society including girl child marriages, lack of education, health and violence.
We can resolve these issues through education only as if they (women) would be educated, these issues would be resolved to a great extent, they believed.
Certain recommendations were also presented for women empowerment in the seminar.
