QUETT A Feb 9 (PPI): Significance of our institution is to dispense justice to the masses in time and redress complaints against the government.
This was stated by Provincial Ombudsman (Mohtasib) Abdul Wasay Tareen at a briefing during the year 2014 here Monday.
Secretary Riaz Ahmed, Director Syed Munawwar Shah, Aftab Ahmed and others were also present.
He said seven regional offices of provincial Ombudsman were working at Loralai, Zhob, Nasirabad, Sibi, Khuzdar, Hub and Turbat where district director and staff were resolving problems of the local people and dispensing in time justice. Steps were underway to setup more regional offices in far flung areas of Balochistan. We enjoy support and cooperation of Balochistan Governor Muhammad Khan Achakzai.
Wasay Tareen said in some district immediate complaint Cells are being established where applications would be received and would be sent to provincial mohtasib secretariat for immediate action.
He said appeals against decision of Mohtasib can be made with provincial government and government decides these complaints in accordance with the law.
Provincial Ombudsman said during 2014 he said Ombudsman secretariat received a total of 1018 cases while there were 2240 cases pending of the last year. He said 2052 cases were decided in which most of the complaints were redressed and demands of law were met.
He said provincial ombudsman and his team made surprise visits to Kidney Centre, District Jail Quetta, Civil Hospital Quetta, District Jail Pishin, Civil Hospital Pishin, District Jail Loralai, DHQ Hospital Loralai, government schools, health centres and departments and took steps to ensures attendance of officers and staff.
He also recounted important decisions his organisation took during the last year.
