Kashmir still on agenda of United Nations, UN

QUETTA,(APP): Kashmir issue was still on the agenda of the United Nations and UN wanted to resolution to the dispute.
This was stated by Director, UN Information Center Vittorio Cammarota while speaking at One Voice Communication workshop organized by United Nations Information at a local hotel, here Monday.
He said, ?The United Nations wants resolution to Kashmir dispute between Pakistan and India. Kashmir issue is still on the agenda of the United Nations?. He, however, said that the UN has no powers for action.
?We have been given role of observer and mediator and UN would continue its efforts for resolution of disputes between different countries of the world.
Addressing on the occasion Provincial Minister for Information, Abdul Raheem Ziaratwal said that Balochistan faced several difficulties due to influx of large number of Afghan refugees. He added that United Nations did not play its due role in providing financial support to Balochistan to deal with issues created due to presence of Afghan refugees. He said they have cut forests of Balochistan and the infrastructure of the province was damaged.
He called upon United Nations and international donor agencies to provide funds to Balochistan to bring improvement in Forests, Livestock, Fisheries and Mining fields. He said that Balochistan government would provide security to foreign investors who want to invest in its mining sector.
Senior Journalist, Saleem Shahid said that the UN agencies have adopted dual standards towards Pakistan in respect of provision of funds and jobs to Pakistanis. ?No adequate funds were provided to Pakistan by the United Nations in dealing with presence of Afghan refugees and to provide jobs to Pakistanis in the UN projects,? he said.
UNDP Head of Office, Ilaria Carpen said that UN agencies were raising awareness among Pakistani people on the issue of climate change. ?Climate change is very important issue and the UN officials want awareness among local people in this regard,? she said.
Communication Officer UNOCHA Murtaza Shibli said that the UN has been playing significant role in restoration of peace in several regions of the world.
