Afghan refugees stage demonstration

QUETTA,(PPI): Large number of Afghan refugees living in various Afghan camps in Balochistan staged demonstration in front of Press Club here Monday. They demanded action against Afghan refugees in Balochistan.
Addressing protestors Muhammad Din Tarakai and others said Afghan refugees were living at Pakistan?s soil for the last 36 years and we are thankful to government of Pakistan for this.
They said that 3,25,000 Afghan refugees were living at 12 camps in the province, 11,19,000 in 72 camps in Khyber Pashtoonkhwa, 150, 000 in Sindh and Karachi and 1,06000 in Punjab. Of these refugees cards of 300, 000 Afghans have been cancelled.
They said Pak-Afghan border sprawls over 2600 kilometres and Pashtoon and Baloch were living on both sides of this border. We want Pak-Afghan friendship but we are being harassed unnecessarily.
They demanded Governments of Pakistan and Afghanistan and United Nations lakhs of Afghan refugees should be issued refugee cards and large number of cards ready with NADRA should also be delivered to Afghan Council so that their difficulties are minimized.
They also appealed to UN bodies to visit Afghan refugees camps. They warned if their demands were not met second phase of their protest would be launched.
