QUETTA: Markazi Anjuman Tajran Balochistan has announced to observe shutter down strike on February 13 in all districts and Tehsil headquarters of the province against the proposed change in the route of Gwadar-Kashghar economic corridor.
In a joint statement issued here, the President of Anjuman Tajran, Abdul Rahim Kakar and other office bearers, Hazrat Ali Achakzai, Allah Dad Tareen, Yasin Mengal and Saadullah Achakzai said that we would not tolerate changes being or to be made to the Gwadar-Kashgar trade corridor route,.
They said that the new route for the project would cause further deterioration in underdeveloped areas instead of development.
They said that said the government should realize the importance of the trade corridor with China in the best interest of Balochistan and should take action against the proposed route change.
If the issue was not resolved then the protest would be intensified further, they said.
It was mentioned that the original route was designed to start from Kashgar and go onto Abbottabad and Mansehra. From there on, it would travel along Mianwali, DI Khan, Muzaffargarh, Zhob, Quetta and Panjgur before culminating in Gwadar.
