Inspection of public transport goes on: Secretary PTA warns transporters not to fleece passengers

QUETTA: Secretary Provincial Transport Authority (PTA), Abdul Khaliq Mandokhail has directed to the owners of passenger buses and coaches to follow the official fare list, otherwise stern action would be taken against those violating it.
This directive, the Secretary PTA issued during visit of different local bus and wagon addahs (terminals) in the provincial metropolis the other day.
He was flanked by the Secretary Regional Transport Authority (RTA), Amanullah Panezai, Muhammad Younas Muhammad Hassani, Motor vehicle examiner, Ghous Bakhsh Kurd, besides the officials of the Police, Traffic and other concerned departments.
The team led by Secretary PTA inspected fares, permit and fitness certificates of the vehicles including buses, coaches and wagons plying on various routes from Quetta for Chaman, Pishin, Zhob, Killa Saifullah, Muslim Bagh, Loralai, Ziarat and Harnai.
On the occasion, six vehicles were challaned while route permits of five vehicles were cancelled on violation of the government directives in this regard.
Moreover, two vehicles were also impounded by the raiding team. While on the other hand, eight vehicles were left after issuing the necessary warning to strictly abide by the government directions, otherwise the vehicles would be impounded on violation of official fare list.
The Secretary PTA on the occasion mentioned that the fare of the passenger vehicle for the Shirani-Dera Ismail Khan route has been fixed as the Rs. 274.
In this regard, necessary directives have already been issued to the district administration, he maintained.
