Security arrangements for polio vaccination campaigns reviewed

QUETTA: The security arrangements were reviewed for the polio immunization campaigns here in Quetta.
The Secretary Home and Tribal Affairs Department, Captain ® Akbar Hussain Durrani was briefed about the security measures for the immunization campaigns to be carried out in different parts of the province. Also present on the occasion were the Commissioner Quetta, Kambar Dashti, police and other concerned high ups.
While briefing the Home Secretary about the security measures during the polio immunization campaign, the challenges being faced were also discussed in detail. They were related to lack of comprehensive joint planning, low deployment of security personnel, financial support to district administration in mobilizing the security officials, need of improved capacity of security personnel in planning and operating during the campaigns, etc.
It was pledged on the occasion that adequate security measures would be adopted for protection of the anti-polio workers to be engaged in the immunization campaigns in the province.
The issues being faced in this regard would be resolved amicably with mutual understanding and cooperation of all the concerned, it was vowed further.
Meanwhile, the Secretary Home also presided over a meeting to review the security arrangements for the students of the religious seminaries in the province.
The senior concerned officials as well as the prominent religious leaders including the Provincial Khateeb Maulana Anwarul Haq Haqqani, Dr. Attaur Rehman and others were in attendance.
The meeting reviewed the security arrangements for the religious seminaries and the students studying there.
