Health Minister vows to take measures for polio eradication

QUETTA: Provincial Minister for Health, Rehmat Saleh Baloch has pledged to take every possible steps for eradication of polio virus in the province.
He was addressing the ceremony of cheque distribution among the heirs of the martyred lady health workers here in the Director General Health Office the other day. Also present on theoccasion were the Director General Health Services, Balochistan, Dr. Farooq Azam, Provincial Coordinator MNCH, Dr. Abdul Wahid Baloch and other concerned high ups.
The cheques amounting to Rs. 2 million (each) were given away to the heirs of the lady health workers martyred in a firing incident in Quetta a couple of months back.
The Health Minister said that it is responsibility of the government and the concerned law enforcement agencies to protect the life and property of the masses and so the health workers engaged in the polio immunization campaigns in the province.
He said that the foolproof security arrangements would be ensured on priority basis so that no untoward incident as occurred in the past, may not happen in future.
This is also necessary for successful polio immunization campaigns in the province, he maintained.
The Minister Health expressed solidarity with the bereaved families of the martyred polio workers and condemned their brutal killings. He termed the assassination of the workers as the cowardly act.
He said that women have very important status in Islam, and not only our religion nor our tribal values allow to attack them.
He also mentioned that it is priority of the provincial government to eradicate polio fully from the province.
He said that the polio workers are serving the humanity by saving the children from physical disorder.
Earlier, the eminent religious leader and Provincial Khateeb, Maulana Anwarul Haq Haqqani and religious scholar, Dr. Attaur Rehman also addressed on the occaiosn.
They said that those unleashing cruelty on the people deserve no mercy at all.
They said that murder of a person means killing of the whole humanity, so one should not indulge in the unforgiveable crime.
They also said that our religion preaches peace, love and brotherhood, and we should strictly follow its teachings.
