Overcharging, fitness issue: Crackdown against public transport continues

QUETTA: As many as five more wagons were challaned and eight others were issued warning on overcharging fares from the passengers as well as over the issue of fitness as the crackdown against the fleecing transporters is continued in the provincial metropolis.
A total of 20 wagons and passenger buses were checked by the team led by the Secretary Provincial Transport Authority (PTA), Abdul Khaliq Mandokhail and Secretary Regional Transport Authority (RTA), Amanullah Khan Panezai and comprised SP Traffic Police, Sardar Gul Hasan Khan, DSP Abdul Razzaq Shahwani, Motor vehicle Examiner, Ghous Bakhsh Kurd, and other concerned officials inspected the fares being charged from the passengers as well as the fitness certification of the buses.
During the checking, the Secretary PTA and other high ups said that the necessary directives are being issued to the local bus transporters to bring improvement in condition of their transport and provide better facilities to the passengers, but regretfully they pointed out that nothing remarkable was done in this regard.
The local bus owners are not providing the desired facilities to the passengers, they maintained.
The Secretary PTA on the occasion warned that the action would remain continued against the local transport not improving their condition, on directives of the Balochistan High Court and the Provincial Minister for Transport.
