QUETTA: The Secretary Forests and Wildlife Balochistan, Khuda-e-Rahim Ejbani has said that all available resources would be mobilized to make the spring tree plantation campaign successful in the province.
Talking to the media here, the Secretary Forests said that special teams have been formed for care and development of the saplings to be planted during the tree plantation campaign this year, he added.
The support of different non-governmental organizations (NGOs) would also be gained during the plantation campaign.
Ejbani informed that the saplings would be planted in the government schools, hospitals, courts and other important official buildings besides the green belts along the highways and roads.
He said that the saplings of Quetta pine, walnuts, almonds and other trees would be planted during the campaign, and he would personally monitor it.
It may be mentioned here that the provincial government has decided to plant 11.5 million saplings all over the province during the extraordinary tree plantation campaign of Spring this year.
According to an official hand out issued here by the Provincial department of Forests and Wildlife department, the saplings would be planted through the government as well as non-governmental organizations and zamindars so as to ensure their good care and growth.
The target has been set for the districts in different circles as under: 2,45,000 saplings for Chaghai district, 1,15,000 saplings for Pishin, 2,45,000 saplings for Noshki, 95,000 for Killa Abdullah and 3,25,000 saplings for Quetta district in Quetta circle of the northern region.
Similarly, it has been targeted to plant 3,50,000 saplings for Sibi district, 1,65,000 saplings for Harnai district, 1,60,000 for Kohlu, 1,05,000 for Ziarat district, 1,80,000 for Dera Bugti district in the Sibi Circle.
In the Zhob circle, the target for different districts is set as: 1,80,000 for Killa Saifullah district, 2,50,000 for Loralai district, 3,40,000 for Musakhail district, 2,30,000 for Zhob district, 70,000 for Shirani district, 1,90,000 for Barkhan district.
Moreover, for the Kalat circle of southern region the target of tree plantation has been set as: 3,50,000 for Khuzdar district, 1,05,000 each for Kharan, Kalat and Mastung districts, 95,000 for Washuk district, 3.6 million for Lasbela district, 90,000 for Awaran district.
In Makran circle, the target of plantation would be as: 2,95,000 for Kech district, 100,000 for Panjgur, 1.7 million for Gawadar while in Naseerabad circle, it is targeted to plant 4,90,000 saplings in Naseerabad district, 4,90,000 in Jaffarabad, 90,000 in Kachhi district, 2,20,000 saplings in Jhal Magsi district.
According to the hand out, the saplings would be provided at cheaper rates. In this regard, it has been asked to all the concerned institutions and zamindars to inform about their needs to the concerned Forests Officer so as to include the same in the list.
The applications can be submitted for procurement of the trees in the offices of the concerned Deputy Commissioner or the District Forest Officer.
