Dr. Kalimullah, Younas undertake charge of Mayor, Deputy Mayor of QMC respectively

QUETTA: The Mayor of Quetta Metropolitan Corporation (QMC), Dr. Kalimullah Khan has said that the revolutionary measures would be taken to resolve the issues facing the metropolitan.
He was addressing the introductory meeting of the elected councilors of QMC held with the Deputy Mayor, Muhammad Younas Baloch in the chair the other day.
It was the first ever meeting of the councilors after taking over the office and issuance of the notification of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor a couple of days back.
Dr. Kalimullah Khan and Younas Baloch assumed the charge of their respective offices in QMC.
Younas Baloch welcomed the councilors in the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, the Mayor Dr. Kalimullah said that the Quetta city has turned into a city of problems (masaylistan) due to the lack of civic facilities and growing population.
He said that we need huge funds to resolve the issues being faced. For the purpose, we would also be requiring the support and guidance of the elected councilors, he stressed.
Dr. Kalimullah Khan also said that the provincial government and the members of the assembly would be approached for the funds.
He also mentioned that the issues related to the collection of tax revenue and Municipal rent would be reviewed through the respective committees.
He said that the issuance of the birth certificates would be made by the councilors at the ward level so that the people may not face any issue in this regard.
Similarly, it would be necessary for the citizens to get no objection certificate (NOC) from Metropolitan Corporation for carrying out any development activity, he said.
The shopkeepers and building owners would be made bound to colour paint their shops and buildings to give a pleasant look, he maintained.
The new Mayor of the Metropolitan also said that three-story parking would be built on the circular road while double story parking would be constructed in the Mutton market.
Moreover, under passes would be built on the Imdad chowk and Koyela (coal) railway crossing on Samungli road, he said further.
The city would be divided into four zones for rickshaws, he said and adding that the rickshaws would be painted with different colours.
Our special focus would also be on cleanliness and for the purpose, sweepers would be posted, Dr. Kalimullah said adding that biometric system would be introduced in the Metropolitan to check absenteeism and ensure attendance of the staff.
