QUIETTA Feb 21 (PPI): Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has announced Rupees 30 billion for building dams to preserve rain water and Rupees 5 billion for 10 year Greater Quetta Water supply project. It would greatly help resolve problems of the province.
This was stated by Provincial Minister for Information, law and parliamentary Affairs Abdul Rahim Ziaratwal while speaking to Voice of America.
He said Prime Mister was satisfied and happy over briefing given to him during his visit to Quetta. Prime Minister assured to provide funds for laying new transmission line from Chashma to Zhob via Dera Ismail Khan to overcome electricity shortage in Balochistan. He also announced funds for recharge of underground water level and to build dams in Ziarat and Harnai, restoration of Sibi-Harnai railway line.
Ziaratwal said increase in financial assistance by Federal government to the province is matter of great satisfaction for us because it would help resolve problems of the province by the provincial government.
He said prime Minister?s announcement made it clear both provincial and federal governments are at one page to resolve problems of Balochistan. He said Balochistan has 30 million acres of land. Dams would be built to irrigate that land and to raise underground water level in different districts to restore 14 million acres of water. After announcement of federal government for financial assistance, provincial government would review afresh its feasibility.
He said excesses in the past with Balochistan would be done away with the announcement of Prime Minister.
Information Minister said positive results would accrue of the meeting of political and religious parties with Prime minister because when political leaders sit together they share problems of the people with each other and discuss various projects for their welfare and redress complaints of people.
He said political leaders had meeting with Prime Minister and brought problems of their respective areas to the notice of prime Minister. It is hoped that Prime Minister would issue directives to the concerned departments of federal government to resolve these problems.
