Polio immunization campaign begins in Quetta district Over 4,80,000 children to be vaccinated against polio

QUETTA: The polio immunization campaign was launched on Monday in Quetta district.
According to the sources of the Provincial Health Department, Quetta has been divided into 35 zones for the polio immunization campaign.
Half of the zones comprising the city areas would be covered in first phase while the remaining half would be covered in the second phase.
Cumulatively the campaign would last for eight days, the sources mentioned adding that it is targeted to vaccinate around 4,80,000 children below five years of age all over the district.
The sources also informed that all the necessary arrangements have been made for the immunization campaign.
For immunization of the children, some 478 teams have been formed. The necessary arrangements have also been made for security of the teams engaged in the campaign, the Health department sources informed.
It may be mentioned here that the vital campaign had been postponed in Quetta district last week owing to the non-availability of the necessary security, as was mentioned by the Health department.
However, the campaign was successfully carried out in other 28 districts of the province.
The sources said that it is sincere effort of the Health department to achieve the hundred percent target of the immunization during the campaign.
