QUETTA: The Provincial Health Minister, Mir Rehmat Saleh Baloch has said that it is our top priority to put the health department on modern lines.
This was stated by Rehmat Baloch while addressing the ceremony arranged to celebrate the increase in scholarship of the student nurses by the Health department at the Balochistan School of Nursing here the other day.
Also present in the ceremony were the Member of Provincial Assembly belonging to National Party, Ms. Yasmeen Lehri, Additional Secretary Health, Muhammad Aslam Tareen, Director Nursing, Dr. Fahim Abbas, Principal of the Nursing School, Ms. Kalsoom Iqbal, Vice Principal, Abdul Mateen, Nursing Instructor, Ms. Sughra, Dr. Dad Muhammad Kakar, besides others.
The Minister said that the nursing sector is very important. In view of its importance, we are taking steps to facilitate those associated with it, and so we have increased the scholarship of the students, he maintained.
The Minister also said that we are committed to resolve the issues being faced by the nurses.
He noted with contentment that the nurses profession is progressing well in the province. He said that it is our endeavour to have specialist nurses in the province. For the purpose, they (nurses) would have to be very sincere and dedicated to their profession, he stressed.
Rehmat Baloch on the occasion appreciated the services of Principal of the School of Nursing, Ms. Kalsoom in the province.
He said that we value her services and contribution for the cause of nursing.
He also said that the we have inherited a number of problems from the past, and it is a fact that the issues of 35 years couldn’t be resolved in a span of one year.
Still, we are endeavouring hard to resolve the issues, and we are committed to bring improvement in health and education sectors.
He said that certain steps are being taken by the government in these two vital sectors thanks to the personal interest taken by the Chief Minister, Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch.
He on the occasion pledged that we would not be deviating from our vision of development and bringing change in the province.
He said that healthy Balochistan is our vision and mission.
Referring the incident of killing of polio workers in Quetta in November last, the Minister said that it was strongly condemnable and intolerable.
Such incidents can’t stop us from our destination, he maintained.
The MPA Ms. Yasmeen Lehri and others also addressed the ceremony. They also spoke at length about importance of profession of nursing.
Meanwhile, Mir Rehmat Baloch and Yasmeen Lehri distributed shields and prices among the outstanding nurses in recognition of their services.
