48 challaned, over 250 warned: Crackdown launched against illegal rickshaws

QUETTA: The Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Quetta has launched crackdown against the rickshaws plying on the city roads without valid documents and the computerized number plates.
The Secretary RTA, Amanullah Panezai led the team of the Authority and the Traffic Police to take action against rickshaws at the Hockey Chowk.
During the crackdown, some 48 rickshaws were challaned on the charges of bearing illegal documents and the unauthorized number plates.
In addition to 48 rickshaws, three motorcycles, a Suzuki and two rickshaws were also impounded.
On the other hand, over 250 rickshaws were issued warning on not carrying the valid documents and containing unauthorized number plates.
The Deputy Superintendent of Police (Traffic), Saifullah Khetran, Motor vehicle Examiner, Ghous Bakhsh Kurd and other concerned officials were also present.
They also kept on supervising the action taken against the rickshaws.
Speaking on the occasion, the Secretary RTA said that the campaign against the illegal rickshaws as well as those containing unauthorized number plates in the city. The same would be impounded and charged heavy fine from the owners / drivers, he warned.
He asserted that the illegal rickshaws would not be allowed to move on the city roads.
He on the occasion expressed the RTA’s resolve to take every possible steps for providing better travelling facilities to the masses.
No compromise over provision of facilities would be made at all, he concluded.
