Winter vacations end: Educational institutions to open in Quetta, cold areas today

QUETTA: The educational institutions operating in cold areas of the Balochistan province including Quetta are scheduled to be opened today (Monday) at end of the winter vacations of around two and half moths.
It is actually start of the new academic year in cold areas of the province, which form mostly half of the total districts of the province.
The educational institutions, it may be mentioned here, were closed in mid of December last year at end of the annual examinations there, on account of the winter vacations.
Earlier, an extra ordinary rush was witnessed on Sunday at the shops of books and stationeries as well as at the shoe shops where children along with their parents were seen while purchasing new academic books, copies and the shoes respectively.
While the schools and colleges are opening today, the academic activities would also be starting at the University of Balochistan (UoB) and Sardar Bahadur Khan Women University (SBKWU).
Meanwhile, a Committee was formed to review security of the educational institutions in Quetta.
According to an official hand out issued here, the Deputy Commissioner Quetta would head the committee with Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations) and Director Colleges and Schools to serve as its members.
Speaking on the occasion, the Commissioner said that it has been made clear to administration of the private schools that they would be ensuring fool proof security for their respective schools.
As per the decision made, the four walls of the schools would be raised up to seven feet with wire.
While the school administration would also ensure security of the schools through Close Circuit TV cameras to be installed in the schools to monitor the safety measures. Moreover, the walk through gates would also be placed at entry points of the schools.
There would also be arrangement for search of the school bags of the students coming to the schools, it was also decided.
No one would be allowed to park their vehicles near the educational institutions.
The security guards would also be deployed on rooftop of the institutions with watch towers to be established there.
The committee constituted under leadership of Deputy Commissioner would visit the schools to examine the security arrangements.
The committee would conduct survey of the schools. The schools lacking the security would not be allowed to open, the Commissioner said.
The members of the delegation on the occasion assured the Commissioner that the effective necessary arrangements would be ensured.
