Sheikh Ayaz recalled on birth anniversary at Academy of Letters

QUETTA: The prominent poet, Sheikh Ayaz was remembered on eve of his birth anniversary here at the Academy of Letters on Tuesday.
The Sindhi language poet and former Producer, PTV, Athar Mangi presided over the ceremony while prominent writer, Noor Khan Muhammad Hassani was the chief guest.
Those who shared their views on poetry and personality of Sheikh Ayaz were included: Afzal Murad, Tasneem Sanam, Jahan Ara Tabasum and Ajab Khan.
They highlighted the life and work of Sheikh Ayaz and paid tributes to him over his struggle for the cause of democracy and literature. They said that Sheikh Ayaz was an asset of the country, who generalized the message of peace and harmony through his poetry. He also raised voice against the injustices in the society for he also underwent the hardships of prison.
They said that we need to promote literature and art in the province as it is necessary for its development as well.
The cake of birth anniversary of Shekh Ayaz was also cut on the occasion.
