Customs seize 130 million goods

QUETTA(PPI): Customs officials were taking action to check smuggling. Customs seized rupees 130 million goods in an action the other day.
This was stated by Deputy Director Customs Intelligence Inamullah Wazir at a Press conference here Saturday.
He said Customs Intelligence Staff found that large quantity goods were shown in less quantity in papers and was cleared from Taftan Customs House coming from Iran. Tracing this fraudulent act Customs Intelligence Staff registered cases against customs officers, Clearing Agents and importers and sent four teams for their arrest. These teams would arrest Customs officers and staff and owners of companies and employees at any time. They have caused millions of Rupees loss to national kitty. Deputy Director Customs Intelligence said that Customs officers and staff putting signatures of papers were being probed. They included one Deputy Superintendent and Inspector.
He told that Customs Intelligence staff in actions in four different areas foiled smuggling of foreign items and impounded four oil tankers in Panjgur area and seized 1,21,000 litres of petrol and diesel. In another action five oil tankers were confiscated in Kalat area recovering 1, 91,000 litres of Iranian diesel.
From three coaches plying on Quetta-Karachi route foreign cigarettes, foreign tyres, tv, lcd and thousands of metres of foreign cloth, gutka, tea were taken into custody.
