Message on Intl. Women’s Day: Development in any sector impossible sans active input of women: CM

QUETTA: The Chief Minister Balochistan, Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch has categorically stated that the struggle of securing societal development and justice could not be made successful without active participation of womenfolk and by bringing them in the mainstream development.
This, he stated in a message issued on the eve of International Women’s Day (IWD) observed on Sunday all over the globe including Pakistan.
The Chief Minister said that we are celebrating the IWD in the province with the resolve to achieve the goal of gender equality and empowerment of women.
He further said that his government believes in the democratic system and thinks that progress can’t take place nor democracy can flourish without active participation of women.
Similarly, the goals of social development and justice could be achieved sans involvement of women.
He assured that his government would keep on striving for well being and welfare of the masses besides providing them the equal opportunities of growth in the province.
It may be mentioned here that the IWD was observed in Quetta as elsewhere in the country and the world.
The theme of the IWD for the year 2015 is “Making it Happenâ€.
Meanwhile, the ruling National Party arranged women convention at the Officers’ Club the same day. The provincial ministers, members of the provincial assembly as well as the senior officials of different provincial government departments, the women from various walks of the life attended the convention.
The NP’s MPA Dr. Shama Ishaq Baloch and Ms. Sabira Islam remained instrumental in organizing the convention featuring all the women rights organizations of the national and provincial level.
Moreover, a function marking the celebrations of Women Day was also arranged at the Pakistan Academy of Letters’ Regional Office.
The literary personalities including female writers and poets also attended the ceremony. The rich tributes were paid to the womenfolk on their remarkable services in development of the society.
A rally would also be taken out on March 10 to express solidarity with the womenfolk in Quetta.
