Another case of polio surfaced in Balochistan

QUETTA: A new case of polio has been surfaced in Balochistan.
The provincial Health department has confirmed that the second polio case of the year 2015 has been reported from Duki area of Loralai.
The polio virus has been detected in around one year old, Naimatullah, son of a resident of Naseerabad muhallah of Duki, as the sources informed the media in this regard.
It was told that the parents of the new Polio carrier has been refusing to get his child vaccinated against the polio virus during immunization campaigns launched in the area.
It may be mentioned here that the first case of polio for the year 2015 had been reported from Chaman area of Killa Abdullah district.
Matter of fact remains that the provincial government is endeavouring hard to eliminate polio virus from the province.
In this regard, immunization campaigns are being organized besides creating awareness among the parents about the disease.
While a special campaign was just concluded in Quetta district last week, another round of the campaign is being launched from March 16 in different parts of the province.
Meanwhile, arrangements were reviewed for the forthcoming anti-polio campaign in Khuzdar
Addressing the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Khuzdar, Syed Abdul Waheed Shah said that it is our national responsibility to strive for eradication of polio as it would be done only through sincere efforts.
Also present on the occasion were the District Health Officer, Khuzdar, Dr. Muhammad Anar Reki, Vice Chairman of Khuzdar Municipal Corporation, Abdul Hameed Baloch and other concerned.
He mentioned that the next round of the polio immunization campaign would be held from March 16.
Earlier, the DHO Khuzdar informed the meeting that over 1,18,000 children below five years of age would be administered the anti-polio drops during the three-day immunization campaign.
He on the occasion urged to engage the elected representatives of the local governments in the campaign so as to make it success.
