SIBI Mar 8 (PPI): Historic and culture Sibi Mela is no less than a blessing in view of increasing terrorism in the country and suffocated atmosphere of Balochistan. People should cooperation with security forces to restore exemplary peace of Balochistan.
These views were expressed by Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch while addressing an impressive ceremony of Sibi mela at Chakar Khan Stadium second day here Sunday.
Provincial Adviser Obedullah Babat, provincial ministers Sardar Mustafa Tareen, Aslam Bizenjo, Abdul Rahim Ziaratwal, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Muhammad Naseem Lehri, former caretaker Chief Minister Nawab Ghaus Bakhsh Barozai, senior civil and military officers and tribal elders were also present.
Chief Minister said this traditional mela helps promote unity and love among all those living in Balochistan. It also strengthens country?s economy and development of livestock, agriculture and other sectors and prosperity of people.
He said this mela is of great interest of people of Balochistan and other parts of the country. It is reflective of ancient culture of this province and being civilization inheritance it is also a source of promotion of economic activities. Government of Balochistan was reviving its hustle bustle as its duty.
He said district administration provided political local cultural opportunities in a suffocated atmosphere for which we laud them.
After Quetta, Sibi is second historic city. It is sad to see the present status of Sibi. By seeing heaps of filth and deserted roads it seems it is not land of Chakar. We have to make pledge to restore its beauty. He asked tribal elders and people of Sibi to play their role for elimination of terrorism and help us to bring peace in Balochistan. They should cooperate with police and security agencies for the elimination of those creating hurdles in Balochistan?s development and prosperity.
He said he was happy today foundation stone for Chakar Khan Rind University as announced by Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif. It would play its role for the promotion of education in and around Sibi. He also announced another college for Sibi. He said funds for early completion of hockey ground in Sibi would also be provided at the earliest. Sibi-Harnai road which plays important role in economic uplift of the region world also be revived soon. He said funds for repair of Great Baloch general Sardar Chakar Khan Rind?s fort would also be provided to that our identity remains preserved.
He announced Rupees 500 million Sibi package for resolving problems of Sibi division as mentioned by Commissioner Sibi division. He said this money would be spent in consultation with MNA Dosten Domki, provincial minister Sarfraz Domki, elected representatives of local bodies and Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner. We all would monitor it so that funds are not wasted.
He directed PC-1for the projects presented for development of people and resolving problems of Sibi should be submitted so that work on it should be undertaken.
DR Malik Baloch also announce D rupees 0.5 million each for Police and Press Club and Rupees one million for children presented tableau, songs and flower show, 50 thousand each for cadet college tent pegging teams, cadets from Peshawar for their demonstration on aircraft, Rupees 25 thousand for girl student delivering her speech in English.
He also directed district administration to encourage artistes of regional dances and horse dance.
Earlier girl students sung national anthem, national songs and songs presented for Sibi mela. Bands of students, girls, Pak Army, FC, BRP made impressive performance. Some 500 students presented flower show.
Animals form Balochistan and other provinces held a parade which evoked keen interests of the guests. Motorcycle jump was also part of celebrations.
Earlier commissioner Sibi Division Ghulam Ali Baloch in his addressing of welcome said that hysteretic Sibi mela not only occupies important place in our economy but for the last 100 years it has been playing important role for keeping alive culture, history and civilization. He said Mela began in last decade of 19 th century by representatives of British throne. After Pakistan?s independence Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah attended Shahi jirga and mela increasing its importance.
