Literary personalities demand: Ample opportunities be provided to women for advancement

QUETTA: The literary personalities have underlined the need to provide ample opportunities to the womenfolk to progress in the society so that they are able to play their constructive role in development of the province and the country shoulder to shoulder with their male counterparts.
They were addressing a ceremony arranged marking the International Women’s Day at the Regional Office of Pakistan Academy of Letters here the other day.
The senior bureaucrat and poet, Sarwar Javed, Ms. Tasneem Sanam, Irfanul Haq Saim, Ms Ghazala Tabassum, Ms. Fahmida Gul, Noor Khan Muhammad Hassani, Norina Khan and others participated in the ceremony.
The Regional Director of PAL Quetta, Afzal Murad played host to the ceremony.
The speakers said that the role of women has been very positive in the society. They are playing wholehearted role in different shades of life, they maintained.
What they needed is the conducive environment to study and later show their talent in practical life, the speakers stressed.
Numerous issues are created in a society where injustices are done with the women, they observed.
Therefore, we need to do away with all forms of discrimination against women and provide them desired opportunities to move forward as without their active participation or representation, the goal of progress can’t be achieved, they stressed further.
