10 more challaned as crackdown against vehicles defying PTA directives continues

QUETTA: The Provincial Transport Authority (PTA) is continuing crackdown against the vehicles, which are defying its directives in different parts of the province.
In this regard, the Secretary PTA Abdul Khaliq Mandokhail along with Secretary Regional Transport Authority (RTA), Amanullah Panezai and other concerned high ups of the Police conducted checking of the vehicles in Custom Sariab area of Quetta suburb. The vehicles of the Quetta-Jacobabad, Dera Murad Jamali, Naseerabad, Sibi and Mach were inspected on the occasion.
Warning was also issued to eight vehicles on non-renewal of the route permits and other necessary documents.
Speaking on the occasion, the Secretary PTA mentioned that the transport fares are lesser in Balochistan than other parts of the country.
He said that prompt action is being taken on complaint of the excessive fare charged from the passengers.
Moreover, steps are also being taken to bring improvement in overall condition of the public transport. All the transporters have been asked to improve condition of their vehicles or else they must be ready to face legal action, he warned.
They have also been asked to carry with them the copies of their valid route permits so that they may not face any issue during inspection.
The Secretary PTA also mentioned that action would also remain continued against non-implementation on the official fares of the transport.
Earlier, the PTA had also ordered to suspend the route permits of seven passenger wagons on violation of its directives in Tehsil Dasht of Mastung district.
The order of suspension of the route permits was issued by the Secretary PTA during checking of different wagons, buses and trucks in Dasht area the other day.
Also accompanied with him were the Tehsildar Dasht, Amir Hamza Bangulzai and other concerned officials.
During overall checking, some 45 wagons, buses and trucks were inspected.
Of them, owners / drivers of 15 trucks were also issued warning to correct their route permits within 10 days, otherwise legal action would be taken against them.
The Secretary PTA said that it is an offence to overload the passengers or get them seated on roofs of the vehicles.
No one would be spared in this regard, and stern action would be taken if found violating the government’s directives in this regard.
He also warned the transporters not to fleece the passengers and charge the fares as was fixed by the authority earlier.
RTA in action:
The RTA Quetta has also launched crackdown against the rickshaws plying on the city roads without valid documents and the computerized number plates.
The Secretary RTA, Amanullah Panezai led the team of the Authority and the Traffic Police to take action against rickshaws at the Hockey Chowk.
During the crackdown, some 48 rickshaws were challaned on the charges of bearing illegal documents and the unauthorized number plates.
In addition to 48 rickshaws, three motorcycles, a Suzuki and two rickshaws were also impounded.
On the other hand, over 250 rickshaws were issued warning on not carrying the valid documents and containing unauthorized number plates.
The Deputy Superintendent of Police (Traffic), Saifullah Khetran, Motor vehicle Examiner, Ghous Bakhsh Kurd and other concerned officials were also present.
