QUETTA: Quetta Metropolitan Corporation (QMC) has decided to immediately demolish all the buildings illegally built or being built in the provincial metropolis.
This was announced by the Mayor of Quetta Metropolitan Corporation (QMC), Dr. Kalimullah Khan while chairing a meeting in connection with removal of encroachments in the metropolis, the other day.
He on the occasion regretfully pointed out that there are some 250 buildings in the metropolis, which have been constructed illegally and with sub-standard material.
So, we have decided to take legal action against such buildings as well as the encroachments in the city, Dr. Kalimullah maintained.
The meeting on the occasion also decided to form a committee authorizing to check the buildings illegally constructed with poor quality construction material.
The committee comprising a Magistrate as well as the representatives of Frontier Corps and Police would submit its report to take further action in this regard, the meeting decided further.
The QMC Mayor on the occasion regretfully pointed out that the work is still continued on the buildings and plazas, which otherwise was sealed being illegal.
The meeting expressed its concern over the situation and decided to stop the construction of such buildings and plazas.
The buildings and plazas raised illegal would be demolish, it was decided further. The representatives of the traders and shopkeepers would also be invited to get their input and cooperation to bring improvement in the overall situation of Quetta, the QMC Mayor vowed adding that we would resolve the issues facing the metropolitan together with all the stakeholders.
He also said that we need to create civic sense and necessary awareness among the general public.
Moreover, it was decided to set up the Jumma (Friday) Bazaar, Hafta (Saturday) Bazaar and Itwaar (Sunday) Bazaar in order to remove the encroachments in different parts of the city.
